Data is the basis of digital transformation
Referring to the issue of data governance in digital transformation, Shahab Lotf ali, consultant and secretary of the board of directors of Iran Telecommunication Company, discussed the definitions of this field and said: digital transformation as a paradigm shift in organizations not only to create ease and value creation, which is a means of competition for survival.
In the life cycle of a business, when companies have reached maturity and feel that their product is outdated, they can easily have a paradigm shift and move towards a new product and technology. With this, businesses not only do not die, but grow explosively.
Lotf Ali further pointed to concrete examples of digital transformation in businesses and said: Netflix was founded by two people in 1997, who were not doing much amazing work at that time. Besides, in the same period, there was a big company called Black Buster in the American market.
At one point, they even agreed to sell their company for fifty million dollars, which Blackbuster didn’t buy. This process continued until 2007, when Netflix embarked on a paradigm shift. That giant company filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and Netflix now has $8 billion in revenue.
Lotf Ali further said: The main elements in digital transformation are employees, data, technology, process and results, and my point of view is from a data perspective. Data and data analysis play the most important role in digital transformation. If a company wants to grow and have the right transformation and remain, you must have data. We are talking about digital transformation, meaning that the data in the files is useless until it is digitized. To be usable, we must have an automated system. You should see to do everything that can be mechanized and automated.
If you can mechanize data generation, you will definitely move towards digital transformation. Data collection is important because data is more valuable than oil. If we consider all the countries of the world, Apple as a company in the field of information and communication technology can be among the top 10 economies.
Referring to the characteristics of digital transformation and the role of data in it, Lotf Ali said: Data governance is the processes that promote the availability, quality and security of the organization’s data through various policies and standards. These processes determine data owners, data security measures, and intended uses. The future of the world has happened.

We cannot transform with a project structure
Javad Hosseinpour, head of the business development department of Iran Telecommunication Company, explained in his speech about the ecosystem of digital transformation and said: I feel that there is still no common understanding at the level of policy, tactics and operations. We have not defined a series of boundaries yet.
Digital transformation is almost a showcase topic in the mouths of managers. We first learned how to work with computers. Fifty years have passed since its beginning. In the age of digitization in 2000, we digitized the processes. We systematized the processes we had in the financial and administrative fields, etc. Following this thinking, electronic structures such as education and health, etc., were created.
At first, we looked at hardware, but in the next generation, we looked at software. But today we entered digital transformation. In all three areas, the way we look at change is different. In the first generation, we were looking for change control, in the next generation, we were looking for change management, but now we have entered a stage called the dance of change. You cannot guard against change and demand transformation.
We still do not have a structure in the field of cryptocurrencies, but we are talking about transformation, one of the dimensions of which is the digital economy. Or the discussion of the global village, which was very common years ago and was poorly addressed. It was suggested that he is a god and wants to transform us culturally. But the digital village had an important implication that borders are collapsing.
Hosseinpour said: We are not facing a new concept in digital transformation, we have just reached a higher stage of maturity. The audience of digital transformation are businesses and organizations and upstream institutions. Like it or not, the lives of 80 million Iranians will change in the short term. Our lifestyles are collapsing in a borderless world. At this year’s G8 summit, Facebook is invited to represent a population of 700 million people at the summit.
Hosseinpour further said regarding the challenges in the field of digital transformation: Can we enter digital transformation with a hierarchical and project structure? When we talk about Google, it claims that it can collapse and redefine the structure of the company in 48 hours. Other things must happen in the space of digital transformation.
In most of the advanced countries in the field of development, they seek to reform the philosophy as the first step. It is the same for us. We entered the development space when we took a look at philosophy. We can’t make the right decision until the look is correct.
I think we have not yet reached a common understanding and we are working in a greenhouse environment. I don’t see anything profound when you can enter this space where the view of the world and the boundaries in the field of technology are different.
