The Tehran E-Commerce Association, by publishing a statement, called the receipt of VAT from intra-city transportation services “illegal”.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, the Tehran E-Commerce Association announced in a statement: The mandated increase in the prices of internet taxis as an infrastructure for a significant part of intra-city trips will have irreparable inflationary effects and the creation of these costs will harm the body of the country’s digital ecosystem.
Earlier, the country’s tax affairs organization, by approving the increase of value added tax to 10%, requested that this amount be collected from internet taxis. This was while the Value Added Tax Law and the 2019 circular of the Tax Affairs Organization had exempted the companies providing smart passenger transportation services from paying the value added tax.
Before this statement, some members of the parliament had considered the request to receive tax from internet taxis against the law in a letter to the board of governors and opposed it due to the increase in the cost of the final consumer, who are the people.
