According to Iran digital economy annotation, according to this report, 26% of Iranian SEO activists are women and 56% of Iranian SEO activists are between 26 and 35 years old. 44% of Iran’s SEO activists have “2 to 5 years” of work experience, and only 6% of them have been working in the field of SEO for “more than 10 years”.
More than half of Iran’s SEO activists live in the “capital” and 28% of them live in “metropolises”.
Additionally, 29% of SEO professionals said they will migrate in 2023.
The salary of SEO specialists in 2023
40% of SEO specialists in Iran had a monthly income of more than approximately 385 thousand dollors in 2023. Also, the monthly income of 39% of them was below almost 230 thousand dollors. In 2023, the average income of male and female SEO experts was approximately 230 and 300 thousand dollors, respectively, and the average income of male and female SEO managers was almost 500 and 365 thousand dollors, respectively. Meanwhile, only at the level of senior experts, the average monthly income of women and men is equal; SEO experts earned about 350 thousand dollors per month this year.
Iranian SEO specialists must have “three jobs” to earn more money. The average income of SEO professionals with one, two, and three jobs is almost 385, 400, and 500 thousand dollors, respectively. The data of Triboon’s third comprehensive SEO report shows that in the field of SEO, the amount of income of SEO specialists is directly related to their work experience, and the monthly income of 58% of SEO specialists with more than 10 years of work experience is more than about 800 thousand dollors. Also, last year, 14% of managers and 10% of SEO strategists earned more than about 800 thousand dollors per month.
Status of freelancers, consultants and SEO specialists working in SEO agencies

Last year, 42% of SEO specialists working in companies were SEO experts, 30% of them were SEO managers, 21% were senior SEO experts, 6% were strategists, and 1% were SEO interns. In 2022, more people (4%) than in 2023 (1%) introduced their role as “SEO intern”. This is despite the fact that the amount of SEO “experts” and “senior experts” in companies in 2023 was the same as in 2022.
84% of the SEO specialists have declared the number of members of the organization they work in between “1-100” and nearly half of the SEO specialists work in companies with less than 20 people. Also, the amount of SEO teams with the number of members “more than 10 people”, “6 to 10 people” and “1 person” has reached 2, 6 and 26%, respectively, with a 1% growth compared to the previous year.
66% of the SEO specialists active in the internal teams of the companies have stated that in 2023 their company’s SEO budget has increased.
The biggest expectation of companies from SEO professionals is to “improve keyword ranking”, while the biggest expectation of SEO professionals working in SEO agencies and freelancers/consultants is to “increase sales”.
Challenges, difficulties and threats in the field of SEO
“Employer’s ignorance of the process of an SEO project”, “internet limitations and disruptions” and “insufficient budget allocated to SEO”, respectively, have been the 3 biggest challenges of SEO professionals in 2023. “Internet limitations and disruptions” have been less challenging for SEO professionals working in “internal corporate teams” than for other professionals.
It seems that with the increase in the amount of work experience, the challenges of “updating Google algorithms” and “lack of manpower” have created a more serious challenge for SEO professionals, and with the decrease of work experience, the challenge of “lack of proper structure for SEO contracts” has been felt more.
49% of SEO specialists believe that “Google algorithm changes” in 2023 had a positive effect on their efforts, and 24% of them believe that this issue had a negative effect on their SEO efforts.
According to SEO experts, the three most difficult activities in the field of SEO are “Compliance with Google’s algorithms”, “Continuous learning in SEO” and “External SEO and link building strategy”. In addition, the biggest threat to the SEO field in the next 2 years has been assessed as “changing user behavior due to the advancement of artificial intelligence” and “harder competition for small businesses”.
Site ranking factors and success measurement criteria
“Improved keyword rankings”, “increased organic traffic” and “increased sales” were the top three measures of success for SEO professionals in 2023. In this context, “increasing organic traffic” and “share of brand and non-brand word traffic” become more important for SEO specialists with increasing work experience.
According to SEO experts, in 2023, the biggest ranking factors of sites from Google were “quality content production”, “technical SEO factors” and “user experience”, respectively. In addition, their prediction has been awarded to “user experience” as the most important rating factor in the next 2 years.
Learning and artificial intelligence
SEO professionals have reported that in 2023, they used AI tools more than anything else for “textual content generation,” and the use of AI for “data analysis” was more common among senior SEO professionals.
The most important skills that SEO activists said they are looking to learn to improve their SEO performance are: “developing knowledge in the field of SEO”, “working with artificial intelligence tools”, “marketing” and “data analysis”. Also, SEO professionals with more than 10 years of experience are looking to learn “data analysis” to improve their performance.
