According to IDEA, The Center for E-commerce Development has examined the value of e-commerce transactions relative to the total transactions processed by Shaparak, the Iranian payment settlement network. According to this analysis, in the year 1401 (2022-2023), the value of e-commerce transactions accounted for around 20% of the total Shaparak transactions, showing a growth of 48% compared to the previous year.Furthermore, the total number of e-commerce transactions conducted solely through the online banking payment gateway in 1401 amounted to 1.5 billion transactions, indicating a 17% decrease compared to the previous year.
Moreover, according to this report, the overall number of purchases made in 1401 has experienced a 16% growth compared to the year 1400. This growth can be attributed to an 18% increase in the number of purchases made through point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
On the other hand, the number of purchases made through the online payment gateway has also witnessed a 17% decrease.The total amount of online purchase transactions in 1401 reached approximately 1.3 trillion Iranian rials, showing a growth of 48%.

In 1401, for the first time, the share of transaction amounts and the number of online purchase transactions through the Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) have been categorized into two main groups: the sale of goods and the provision of services.
According to this analysis, 73% of the total transaction amounts of online purchases through the IPG belong to the services sector, while 27% is attributed to the sale of goods. Additionally, 91% of the total number of online purchase transactions through the IPG pertain to the services sector, with the remaining 9% relating to the sale of goods.
