In today’s ceremony, by conducting a speed test on Irancell’s optical fiber network at the ceremony site, the speed of 944 Mbps was recorded in this network. Thus, with the expansion of Irancell’s optical fiber coverage throughout the city of Babol, the residents of this city can benefit from the high-speed fiber optic internet service for homes, schools, businesses, etc. by registering a request for fiber optic service.
Also, Irancell’s 847th 5th generation site in the country was put into operation with a download speed of 973 megabits per second, so that Irancell still holds the record for the number of 5th generation mobile phone sites in Iran.
The opening of two Irancell rural communication sites in the villages of Morsam and Osa, from the central part of Miandorud city, by the order of the Minister of Communications, was another part of the operation of Irancell communication projects in Mazandaran province. With the opening of these two sites, which were established from the USO plan of the Ministry of Communications, 280 households with a population of 847 people were connected to Irancell’s high-speed mobile internet network.
In this ceremony, the Minister of Communications pointed out that the National Optical Fiber Movement for Homes and Businesses is the most important communication infrastructure project in the country that can change both the face of fixed and mobile communications in Iran, and said: “One of the tasks of the seventh development plan is to equip Every single building in the country has fiber optic access, and with the full implementation of this project, we will not need a new communication infrastructure for decades.”
While praising and thanking Irancell and other fiber optic infrastructure development activists, he said that “we are doing a 10-year work in three years”, he considered the completion of Babylon’s fiber optic coverage a big event and expressed his satisfaction with the completion of this project.
The governor of Mazandaran also thanked Irancell and the Ministry of Communications for the development of communication infrastructure in Babol city and Mazandaran province and emphasized: “With the opening of optical fiber coverage in Babol city, with the grace and grace of God, the stability of the Internet was established and the reliability factor It went up.”
Stating that 40 million passengers and tourists from all over Iran travel to Mazandaran every year, he said: “Competition between operators for investment in Mazandaran is serious, and with the formation of a committee to eliminate interferences and coordination with the municipality, fortunately, the development of optical fiber in the province is at a good pace. has found and I hope we will be one of the first provinces to complete fiber optic coverage in all its cities.”
In the final part of the ceremony, the Minister of Communications honored the efforts of the governor and mayor of Babol in the implementation of the optical fiber project of this city by presenting a plaque of thanks.
The number of Irancell 5G sites will reach 1100 by the end of the year
At the beginning of this ceremony, the CEO of Irancell, presenting statistics and information on the progress of Irancell communication projects in Mazandaran, said: “Mazandaran province ranks 5th in data consumption in Irancell network with more than 2.8 million active subscribers. So far, we have invested more than 20 thousand billion rials for the development of Irancell communication network in this province and we have also activated 16 fifth generation mobile phone sites. The population coverage of Irancell in the province is more than 94%.
Regarding the progress of Irancell’s optical fiber project, he stated that Irancell’s plan for this year is to create access points for 1 million and 440 thousand households, and said: “So far, access has been created for 650 thousand points and at the same time as drilling and implementation operations are carried out in 49 We are in different phases of providing services in seven cities.”
Abbasi-Arand added: “So far, 150 kilometers of the intercity (road) optical fiber connection project of Mazandaran province have been completed, and 15 kilometers are being completed, and the remaining 25 kilometers will be completed in the next phase.”
He announced the total optical fiber area implemented in Babol city as 120 kilometers and added: “The total number of installed OLTs is 25, ODC cabinets are 52, FATs are 504, and the total number of households covered is 69,966.”
In another part of his speech, the CEO of Irancell also announced that the number of 5G sites of Irancell has reached 847, of which 5 5G sites have been launched in the city of Sari and 11 sites in other cities of Mazandaran. By the end of this year, the number of Irancell’s fifth generation sites will reach 1,100 sites in the whole country.”
Regarding Irancell’s actions in the field of rural communication development, he stated that Irancell covers 13 million rural population with an investment of 170 thousand billion Rials, and announced the total number of Irancell’s rural sites to be 5845 sites to cover 30860 villages, of which, 1,852 sites to cover 4,442 villages were from the USO funds of the Ministry of Communications.
Irancell, the first 5G provider and the record holder for the speed and number of fifth generation sites in Iran, in addition to developing the number of fifth generation mobile phone sites in the country, which reached 847 with the opening of the Amol site, recently in January 2024, with the presence of Mohammadzadeh Lajevardi. He unveiled the 5.5th generation of the “5G-Advance” mobile phone network on the Irancell network, and by conducting a speed test on the 5.5th generation of mobile phones and setting a record of 6.5 gigabit per second, he broke Iran’s internet speed record again.
Also, in August 2023, Irancell received the Unified License for Network and Communication Services (UNSP) from the Minister of Communications and Information Technology. By receiving this license, Irancell officially joined the group of providers of fixed communication services based on optical fiber (FTTx) and other communication services subject to the above approval.
In the field of rural communications, Irancell will complete the coverage of villages with more than 20 households, which have been assigned to Irancell in the national rural communications development plan, by the end of this year and in accordance with the plans of the Ministry of Communications. In order to complete the coverage of rural communication in the country, today and during the above ceremony, the remaining villages of Mazandaran province, where it was not possible to install equipment due to geographical conditions, were equipped with Irancell high-speed internet.
