Not long ago, the price of mobile internet increased by 34%, and according to the country’s regulatory head, this number is supposed to be included for fixed internet as well.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, the decision to increase the internet tariff by 34% was announced to operators a while ago and applied to mobile internet packages. Now it seems that this resolution has been communicated to fixed internet operators and soon we will see a change in the price of fixed internet packages up to a maximum of 34%.
Resolution No. 2 of the 349th meeting of the 30th of October of the Commission for the Regulation of Communications Regulations has given permission to increase the price of fixed internet. According to this resolution, the price of 2 Mbps internet is considered to be 335 thousand Rials per month, and this price for 3 and 4 Mbps internet reaches 469 thousand Rials and 536 thousand Rials. The popular speed of 8 Mbps also has a monthly tariff ceiling equal to 670 thousand Rials, and the Internet price ceiling for VDSL services is from 2.68 million Rials to 3.2 million Rials. It seems that the price of fixed internet packages has increased by 10-34%.
In this resolution, it is stated that the tariff ceiling for each gigabyte of international traffic, in case of selling excess volume, is finally set at 26.8 million Rials.
Currently, Asiatech Internet Company has also published a letter regarding the change in the tariff of fixed internet high-speed access services, and it seems that other companies providing fixed internet will soon make changes in the rates of their internet packages.
