Private postal companies and urban transport all complain about the low level of services provided by the National Post Company. They say that National Post Company’s prices are so low that it has eliminated competition. Even the quality of service does not matter anymore. However, Mohammad Ahmadi, Technical Vice President, Commercial of National Post Company, believes that National Post Company does not intend to create competition and changing the pricing of “Post” regardless of quality has caused dissatisfaction among the employees of this company.

The postal service could be more efficient than it currently is. Post is a physical communication network and what is expected from this company, unlike similar companies such as telecommunications, is high productivity in the shortest time.
Postal service is one of the few services that requires a strong physical infrastructure. The postal company has its own equation. For example, the nature of the telecommunication company is high investment with low maintenance cost, but unlike the telecommunication company, Post does not need high investment and its maintenance cost is higher than other similar companies.
In 90% of the countries of the world, investment in the post office is the responsibility of the government, and now, if there is a lack of work in this matter, the private sector is not among them. Now there are problems in the postal company, which is referred to as underemployment. For example, the post company’s need for fast and high-quality transportation has not been met. With this account, it can be said that there is no good and high-quality logistics industry in Iran.
Ahmadi said about the difference between the Iran Post Company and the post companies of other countries: I believe that there is no comprehensive understanding of how the post plays a role in Iran, and special attention has not been paid to the impact of the post on the final cost paid by the consumer.
For example, the cost that the logistics industry creates for the customer in the production chain from raw materials to reaching the consumer is an average of 6% of that chain, but the cost of logistics in this chain in Iran is estimated at 15%. Therefore, if an efficient distribution network is built in Iran, the price for the final consumer will automatically decrease.
The postal company is not interested in the private sector
The technical vice president of the National Post Company, regarding the desire of the Post Company to join the private sector, reminded of the rumors about this, and said: In the world, postal companies receive subsidies and need support, and providing access to rural and remote areas is not beneficial for any private sector. The Post Company does not want to join the private sector and the history of the Post Company also shows that the Post Company does not want to be privatized.
Ahmadi said about the pricing of Post Company services: National Post Company is not satisfied with the pricing of Post Company services because this pricing is not done in proportion to the change in quality. The fact is that many activists are not willing to work in the justice-oriented postal industry regulator because they know that the incomes in the logistics field are silent and sweet incomes.
He said about the cost of sending a package in the logistics industry with the difference of one day delay in sending: Those who operate in the logistics industry insist on forcing people to hurry and tell them that you should always be in a hurry, while forcing the customer to request early. The arrival of the ordered package in the logistics industry has a 60% financial difference. In other words, if the customer’s package is sent one day later, those who work in the logistics industry will benefit greatly. It should be noted that estimates show that one and a half million mail orders are distributed daily in Tehran.
Ahmadi says about the optimality of the post company’s type of activity: while many companies have silent and high income from the logistics field, the model implemented in the postal space is not in line with optimization. One of the problems that exists is the lack of accurate information about the postal and logistics industry. In other words, the concept that operators can achieve productivity when they have a common language with other operators has not yet been clarified.
The service in technology-oriented networks moves at the edge of technology development, but the service in the national post network must be developing at the edge of customer needs. There are various needs in the market, which can be met at a lower price by referring to the postal company.
