He stated that within the framework of this annex, the telecommunications company aims to achieve seven million fiber optic connections in the country by the end of 1403.
Furthermore, Lajevardi noted that the development space for fiber optics in the country is competitive, and any operator that fulfills its commitments in a timely manner will benefit from incentives.
It is worth mentioning that several measures have been taken to achieve the government’s promise in the field of fiber optics, including the establishment of the “Fiber Optic Network Development Fund” with an initial capital of one trillion tomans to finance the national fiber optic project for homes and businesses. Other measures include providing incentives for internet service providers to connect fiber optics and granting Unified Network (and) Service Provider (UNSP) licenses to seven operators.
The thirteenth government has placed the development of fiber-optic-based internet on its agenda and set a goal to achieve 20 million fiber optic coverages by the end of its term. As of the latest statistics related to the national fiber optic project for homes and businesses, 3,638,000 households have been covered by fiber optic-based internet.
The number of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) subscribers is only 263,536. According to Zarepour, the Ministry of Communications initially focused on expanding fiber optic coverage, and starting next year, they will concentrate on increasing the number of subscribers to this service.
