Dedicated Researchers in a Knowledge-Based Company Based in Iran Successfully developed fiber Optic Joints for Underground Connections, Ending Reliance on Imports.
Iranian Innovators Achieve Breakthrough in Local Fiber Optic Joint Production
According to IDEA, Mr. Hossein Jardekani, the CEO of this knowledge-based company highlighted the company’s research efforts in designing and manufacturing passive fiber optic equipment for telecommunications applications. He stated that, between 2009 and 2013, all equipment produced by the company had been imported from countries such as South Korea, the United States, and China. However, the company has now achieved the significant milestone of producing these products domestically.
Local Innovation Paves the Way for Self-Reliance in Fiber Optic Components, Offering Resilience and Cost-Effective Solutions
In a notable achievement, an Iranian knowledge-based company has made substantial progress in the production of fiber optic components. The CEO of the company, Mr. Hossein Jardekani, announced that their range of products has now grown to encompass 15 different items. He highlighted that the company, established in the Payam Special Economic Zone in 2018, has been procuring raw materials for its products from petrochemical plants in Tabriz, Golpayegan, and Arak.
Mr. Jardekani specifically mentioned fiber optic joints as one of the key products developed by the company. These joints are crucial for telecommunications applications, as they enable the connection of fiber optic cables. He explained that fiber optic cables are typically manufactured in lengths of up to 4 kilometers, and it is often necessary to connect them using fiber optic joints, which his company has now successfully started producing.
The CEO emphasized the advantages of these locally produced fiber optic joints, noting their durability against physical impacts and their ability to prevent water penetration into their enclosures.
He added that, previously, such fiber optic joints were imported from South Korea at a cost of $50 each. However, their company now offers their domestically produced counterparts at a more cost-effective price of one million Iranian rials per unit.
Mr. Jardekani underlined the significance of these fiber optic joints, highlighting their resistance to impact and high-pressure situations. He further explained that the company has been involved in the “Fiber to the Home” project since 2019, producing various equipment, including the “Fiber Optic Distribution Box” that is wall-mounted, and the “Fiber Optic Outlet,” both of which find utility in households. This development signifies a step towards self-reliance in providing telecommunications infrastructure and solutions within Iran.
