According to a joint text that the employees of Flightio published on their LinkedIn accounts, the CEO, a number of senior managers and employees of Flightio have resigned from their jobs.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Some Flightio employees have changed their LinkedIn profile status to “open to work” and posted a joint text.
In the joint text of Flightio employees, the interference of the investor of this group, which is “Ernyka” Holding, in the management of Flightio and the occurrence of problems are mentioned. In the text of the employees of Flightio, it is stated:
“From a few months ago, the unnecessary interference of the investor’s holding intensified. It seemed like a storm was coming… a storm that in just a few days, the CEO and all the senior managers of Flightio’s departments decided to resign and forced to leave this house. With these sudden resignations, first a heavy silence reigned in the atmosphere of Flightio, and then the voice of protests was heard, and right at “3 o’clock” in the sad midnight, the bitter news of the retrenchment destroyed this happy house for us like a terrible earthquake. Exactly two days left for Flightio’s 8th birthday”
Three years ago, at the end of May 2021, it was announced that Ernyka Holding invested almost 4 million dollors in exchange for 70% of Flightio’s shares in the form of a combined Primary and Secondary fund raising. In February 2019, Sabaidea Holding (the owner of Aparat and Filimo) had acquired 20% of Flightio, and with the new investment from Ernyka, Sabaidea’s share was reduced to 6%.
A year ago, Flightio introduced Kamyar Irani as its new CEO, and it was the evidence of the growth of this company, which some describe as the second player in Iran’s online tourism. Previously, it was even planned to integrate “Homsa” accommodation reservation system with Flightio. News such as the non-payment of salaries of some employees and the resignation of the CEO a few days ago are circulating. However, apparently, financial problems were not the cause of this incident for Flightio. Apparently, adjustments have been announced to the marketing and technical flight departments.
Looking back, layoffs in startup companies have occurred every now and then. In recent years, startup companies such as Digikala, Sabaidea, Hamrah Mechanik, and iHome have adjusted some of their staff. However, some of these companies tried to reduce the psychological atmosphere of relocation and the pressure of adjusting their workforce by publishing an official statement and helping their employees. Flightio’s competitors, such as Alibaba, Mrbilit, and Snapptrip, also went through layoffs due to the Corona situation. Masoud Tabatabei, the then CEO of Alibaba, tried to reduce the pressure of this decision on his personnel by publishing a tweet and a statement in March 2019.
The posts of Flightio employees on social networks and the lack of publication of an official statement or position announcement by Flightio or the shareholders of this company have plunged the career future of the employees of this group into an aura of uncertainty, despair and fear.
