The Minister of Communications, while pointing out that the provision of satellite internet is on the agenda of the Space Organization, announced that this issue requires a regional consortium and negotiation and consultation with other countries
According to the IDEA, Minister of Communications Eisa Zarepour, on the sidelines of the government delegation meeting, in response to the media regarding satellite internet, said: “Being able to use our own capacities to provide satellite internet is on the agenda of the Space Organization; However, this should be done with the help of other countries.”
He emphasized that if a country wants to set up a system to provide internet to people, it needs a regional consortium. Because such an action is not economical in the short term. According to Zarepour, they are consulting and negotiating with other countries in this regard.
He stated that he welcomes the presence and activity of satellite internet providers in the country, but on the condition that they accept Iran’s rules, adding: “The International Telecommunication Union, in fact, the World Radio Regulations Board, has required that the world’s largest satellite internet service providers must Get a license to provide services in the Islamic Republic of Iran. We write to them and invite them, we welcome their presence with the activity based on our rules.”
Last year, Hassan Salarieh, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Head of the Iran Space Organization, pointed to a 10-year space program and a clearly defined path in the Internet satellite system and said: “This program is currently in the feasibility phase and after the completion of this phase, We have satellites of the Narrow Band minimum system or the so-called IOT (Internet of Things) and then we will go to Broadband and Internet.”
