The head of the Ministry’s National Center for Improvement and Business Environment announced the official start of online medicine sales.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Amir Sayah informed about the possibility of selling and distributing medicine through various internet platforms from the next month and stated that the Ministry of Health has been delayed for one year and eight months in the online distribution of medicine and the possibility of selling it through internet platforms. and internet sales should have started from that time.
He added: “The Food and Drug Organization plans to regulate the distribution and sale of drugs through online platforms. On the last announced date, the Ministry of Health was supposed to implement the distribution of medicine through Internet platforms from the beginning of the Fajr decade last year; But we faced a delay, and recently, in the meeting of the 90th Commission, it was decided that the sale and distribution of medicine from Internet platforms will be operational from the next month.”
Stating that the drug distribution system will become more transparent with the online sale of drugs, Sayah said: “By registering the request for the purchase and delivery of drugs on an online platform, the monitoring will be more accurate and more, and in case of violations, such as the provision of expired drugs, the follow-ups will be easier. Also, the drug distribution system becomes transparent.”
Regarding the need for regulation, he said: “When the drug is distributed through the platform, monitoring and control will be better, and the law says that if the device does not regulate, it cannot stop the activities of the platforms.”
