National AI Product Evaluation Lab to Boost Tech Advancements
According to IDEA, Dr. Seyed Mohammad Razavi Zadeh, Head of the National Institute of Communication and Information Technology Research, announced the imminent launch of a national AI product evaluation lab by year-end. Speaking at an AI-focused national event, he emphasized the country’s existing potential within its universities and research centers.
Highlighting the profound impact of AI, Dr. Razavi Zadeh underscored its pivotal role across numerous sectors. Rapid technological strides anticipate AI’s significant contributions to legal affairs, social networks, industry, agriculture, and beyond.
Notably, he mentioned the active engagement of around 150 companies in diverse AI sectors. These companies have introduced game-changing products, such as facial recognition technology, vision-based license plate readers, speech processing, virtual assistants, and legal applications.
Dr. Razavi Zadeh called for swifter adaptation to AI advancements, emphasizing the identification of priorities, heightened public awareness, human resource development, and research infrastructure enhancement. He shed light on the current scarcity of AI processors, necessitating outsourced AI processing, particularly in education.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s pivotal role was also highlighted, with its valuable data resources set to bolster AI development. Dr. Razavi Zadeh wrapped up with the forthcoming launch of an AI product evaluation lab, positioned to officially operate at a national scale by year-end.
