Multiple Entities Working on Finalizing the Artificial Intelligence Document.
Collaboration and Cross-Agency Efforts Shape Iran’s AI Document
According to IDEA, The Institute of Communications and Information Technology, the Scientific and Technological Deputy of the Presidential Office, and to some extent, the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution are currently involved in the drafting and finalization of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) document. With three AI documents being developed by different entities, it is anticipated that, following the Seventh Development Plan, the National Cyberspace Center and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will collaborate with other agencies to formulate the AI document.
Although the Seventh Development Plan designates the responsibility for the development of this document to the National Cyberspace Center and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Scientific and Technological Deputy of the Presidential Office has been laying the groundwork for two years, and a draft of the AI document has been submitted to the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution for approval.
This AI document includes 14 policies, and 11 major goals, and outlines the responsibilities of all government agencies and their roles in AI development. The document developed by the Institute of Communications and Information Technology identifies the main stakeholders in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution suggests that the national AI document should be finalized through collaboration with other entities, making the ultimate authority for document finalization a matter of debate. While it is predicted that all draft documents will eventually merge into one, this outcome is yet to be confirmed.
