Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the 14th administration, appointed Hossein Afshin, a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University, as the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Hossein Afshin holds a Ph.D. from Sharif University and is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He has also served as the Deputy for Infrastructure Research and Production Affairs at the Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iranian Parliament). Previously, Afshin was the head of the Energy, Water, and Environmental Sciences and Technologies Research Institute and is a faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Hossein Afshin’s background includes serving as the head of the Energy Sciences and Technology Research Institute at Sharif University of Technology. He has also been the Director of Technology and Industry Relations at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Sharif University. Additionally, he has been recognized as a distinguished professor for his contributions to research advancement, industry relations, and securing grants.
Professor Hossein Afshin works in the fields of cryogenic systems, advanced ventilation systems, and renewable energy.
In the president’s decree, it is stated:
Dear Mr. Hossein Afshin,
Based on Article 124 of the Constitution and in view of your qualifications, valuable managerial experience, and executive background, I hereby appoint you as the ‘Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.’
I hope that, with reliance on Almighty God and within the framework of the Constitution, the objectives of the Vision Document, and the general policies approved by the Supreme Leader (may his shadow be extended), you will diligently strive to achieve the goals of the government and solve the country’s problems in cooperation with the honorable cabinet ministers, while adhering to the ethical charter of the 14th administration.
