According to Iran digital economy annotation, the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace announced instructions for organizing the assignment of communication identifiers in order to deal with fraud through mobile phone numbers and impersonation of users in cyberspace. According to this instruction, any assignment of communication ID without going through legal procedures, including the authentication process, is considered unauthorized and will lead to limiting the provision of virtual space services to the unauthorized assignor.
The instructions for organizing the transfer of communication IDs were announced with the aim of reducing cases of abuse of communication IDs and facilitating the follow-up of frauds committed in this way, especially in the field of platforms and private businesses.
This instruction, which was approved by “Syed Mohammad Amin Aghamiri”, the secretary of the Supreme Council and the head of the National Center for Cyberspace in the Supreme Commission for the Regulation of Cyberspace, is in line with the implementation of clauses of the valid identity system document in cyberspace approved by the 59th session of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace.
Based on this instruction, cyberspace service providers will provide related reports to the police of the production and information exchange space of the country’s General Police Command (FATA) so that, in case of violation, necessary restrictions will be applied to the offenders’ portfolio of communication services.
According to the announcement of the National Center of Cyberspace, the instructions for organizing the transfer of communication identifiers have obliged the e-government interactivity working group to announce the implementation rules to the executive bodies and FATA police in the field of platforms and businesses related to this process.
