This can increase the market competition in the field of online food ordering
According to the IDEA, Golrang Group is planning to enter the field of food ordering with OFood. This issue can intensify the market competition in this field and challenge the main player in this field, Snappfood.
Golrang Group, which had previously invested in startups such as Tara, Okala and Dartil, has decided to enter the field of online food ordering with the oFood collection. This complex is supposed to provide the possibility of ordering food, sweets and supermarkets from the very beginning of its activity.
“Amin Salami Pargoo”, the CEO and founder of this collection, announced in a post published on his LinkedIn social network that the size of the food ordering market in Iran is estimated at 3.5 billion dollars, which, according to the current dollar rate, is worth more than 177 hemats.
Salami stated that the volume of the online food market of this market is 17% (about 30 hemats): “Of the total volume of the online food market, about 15% is the share of the platforms of chain stores and local players, and 85% of that is the share of the current player in this field. If we consider the average value of each food order to be 300,000 Tomans on average, there are about 250,000 to 280,000 online food orders from various food services, cafes, etc. daily.
But what can be the effective components in improving the competition and customer service in a market with these characteristics and dimensions? Undoubtedly, one of the important indicators of customer satisfaction is having the power of choice. The opportunity to compete has been taken away from the people.
But today’s story will be different from yesterday’s, and due to the difference in market conditions, focusing more on providing better and faster service instead of spending energy and money to gain market monopoly, it is possible to change the rules of the game. Provide.”
Salami, who previously worked in the Snapp group and was the founder of Snapp Supply (a collection of raw materials for restaurants), believes that this change will ultimately benefit all players in this industry, especially the public.
The online food ordering market in the country has had many ups and downs for a long time. Entering the e-commerce market, Iran Internet Group launched the Al-Food group, which after a few months of operation, bought its only competitor in the market, Zodfood. After some time, Zodfood rebranded to Snapfood and entered the market with other players such as Reihun, Changal, Chilivery, etc.
But these collections were closed down one by one and currently the main market is in the hands of Snapfood. In the meantime, some local players in big cities and Delino group are the only Snapfood competitors who have a small share of the market.
It goes without saying that the DigiKala group tried to compete with this group by launching DigiKalaJet, but the fact is that DigiKalaJet is currently only able to compete with Snapfood in the department of ordering fast-moving consumer goods (supermarkets) and has not made any headway in the online food ordering department.
Golrang Group can be considered a serious competitor for Snappfood in the market with its investment in Ofood. It should also be said that the entry of another big player in this field can strengthen the power of choice for users and provide the possibility of changing the rules of the game in this competition.
The official news and more details of Ofood collection have not yet been published, but some recruitment ads for this collection can be seen on the LinkedIn social network. Also, some rumors suggest that this application, like Snappfood, focuses on dark kitchens and dark stores (restaurants and supermarkets that only have online takeout orders).
It has to be seen whether the online food ordering market can make significant changes with the presence of a new player whose investor is Golrang Group. Golrang Group used to compete with Snapp Group with Okala Group, although in recent years we have seen that some stores in Okala are also active in the Snapp Express application.
