A board member of the Tehran Computer Trade Association listed lifting the filtering as one of the top five priorities and said: ‘In the survey conducted by the NASR organization, challenges in the IT sector are ranked within the top five priorities, with filtering being one of them.’
Technology Day Postponed: Key Priorities and Challenges Discussed
Technology Day, officially scheduled for July 22, has been postponed due to its coinciding with the first ten days of Muharram. Consequently, the event will now be held on August 7.
Addressing Filtering Issues
In a press conference, Hakim Javadi, a member of the board of the Tehran Computer Trade Association, addressed the issue of filtering, a central topic for Technology Day. He stated: “Filtering is a prominent issue frequently discussed, including in electoral debates. However, those advocating for lifting the filter focus on a few specific platforms related to our sector. The Computer Trade Association is not a political entity but a professional one. We believe the business environment should be conducive and measures should be in place. I believe that lifting or alleviating filtering might be beyond the capacity of a single authority and requires an effective solution.”
Regarding the cost estimates for the third annual Technology Day, Javadi noted: “Requesting a cost estimate from our organization, which has a well-defined and structured budget with 23 board members, seems unusual. All financial matters are reviewed in our meetings, and any discrepancies would be reported. If necessary, we can provide precise financial details, but I believe numbers alone will not solve the problem. I assure that the expenses have been within the budget approved by the board.”
Top Priorities for Technology Day
Hesam Asadi, another board member, highlighted the key concerns to be addressed on Technology Day. He stated: “In the seventh term of our board, we continuously receive and address challenges from our members. Based on surveys, we have identified five main areas of focus. The first challenge highlighted in these surveys is filtering. The second focus is on human resource challenges within the IT sector. Additionally, issues related to various certifications and security concerns, as well as obstacles in order registration and procurement of goods, are significant. We hope to discuss these topics thoroughly on Technology Day and seek solutions to benefit the digital economy sector.
