One of the popular services in digital health is the online payment of doctors’ visit fees by patients. In some healthcare centers, payments are collected in cash or via bank cards, which can raise transparency concerns in the healthcare sector. However, online payments in digital health systems bring several advantages beyond transparency.
The Impact of Online Payments in Reducing Appointment Cancellations and Enhancing Healthcare Access
According to IDEA, the CEO of the Boghrat Digital Health System, online payments made during online appointment scheduling can reduce appointment cancellations by up to 75% among patients.
The latest statistics released by this platform indicate that doctors using online platforms for managing their clinics experience a growth of over 50% in the second year compared to the first year of using these platforms.
Mehrsad Teymouri, the CEO of Boghrat, believes that doctors are experiencing over 56% growth in revenue as they make full use of digital health services. He cites benefits such as increased patient visits due to reduced appointment overlaps, and convenient and rapid access to patient records through advanced technology and medical archives as the main drivers behind this growth.
Digital Payment Enhances Healthcare Transparency
Mehrsad Teymouri emphasized the 75% reduction in appointment cancellations by patients due to the ease of access through online payments. He explained, “Easy access to a patient’s record with a single name and national ID, precise data entry, and access to a multi-year medical history with just a few clicks provide clarity and order to the entire medical process. This not only simplifies the work for healthcare providers but also eases the process for patients, offering a distinct sense of organization to the healthcare experience. Additionally, financial management and periodic financial reporting are systematically conducted, eliminating the need for healthcare providers and their assistants to undertake complex financial tasks.”
It appears that patients, by making online payments for their appointment fees, commit themselves to attend the doctor’s office and are less inclined to risk losing the fee.
Teymouri added, “In a world where artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a part of people’s lives, harnessing the power of AI can significantly improve the quality of work and increase knowledge and expertise. Connecting with the world of technology gradually fosters an affinity for this digital realm, leading to increased usage.
