Pour Ebrahimi expressed his hope that before the end of the 11th Parliament, the discussion of cryptocurrencies in the country will become legal by the central bank
The Chairman of the Parliament’s Economic Commission emphasized the need to use the capacity of cryptocurrencies in the country’s economic system. According to Pour Ebrahimi, it is a wrong move for the central bank to define a path in the cryptocurrency roadmap that negates this issue.
“Mohammedreza Pour Ebrahimi”, the chairman of the economic commission of the parliament, stated that the field of cryptocurrencies is a new category in the economy, and any decision about it should be made in a specialized and scientific environment.
Emphasizing that the capacity of cryptocurrencies should be used for the economic system of the country, he said that if there are problems and defects in this area, they should either be fixed or they should be taken into account when making decisions.
In the fintech roadmap document that is being compiled by the central bank, the words “restriction” and “transparency” are used about cryptocurrencies. Pour Ebrahimi said: “It is a mistake of the central bank to define a path in the mapping of cryptocurrencies that negates this issue from the ground up. While it is possible to provide a platform for it and manage it with supervision.”
He emphasized that the risk caused by cryptocurrency activity in the country’s economic system should not be put on the shoulders of the people: “We cannot say that we don’t accept it and basically it doesn’t exist, because it exists and whether we accept it or not, people will use cryptocurrencies. Our art is to provide this possibility in the framework of a legal environment and prepare its frameworks.
The latest state of organizing cryptocurrencies
The Chairman of the Economic Commission of the Parliament stated that the government is not limited and can determine appropriate executive regulations regarding cryptocurrencies under the existing laws.
“The most important thing we are looking for in the parliament is to define the legal position of cryptocurrencies in the economic system. But in the meantime, we encountered a different view that was formed in the governments.”
According to him, the discussion of the organization of cryptocurrencies in the 13th government was entrusted to the economic vice president and the government was suggested to prepare a bill entitled the organization of cryptocurrencies in the economic system and send it to the parliament: “Despite the agreement with the government, until the end of last year no bill It did not come from the government. We don’t know where the writing of its text by the presidential economic vice-president ended up.”
Pour Ebrahimi stated that the parliament believes that the country cannot be kept silent in the field of cryptocurrencies and that this field must be used to remove the sanctions for the benefit of the country’s economy: “If there are threats, we must manage them. We believe that cryptocurrency can help our national economy.”
He expressed his hope that if there is an agreement with the government, before the end of the 11th term of the parliament, the issue of cryptocurrencies will become legal.
