Many times in the review of the growth and lack of growth of digital platforms, it has been stated that the two-year corona pandemic provided a very good basis for the reception of users in the field of digital health in the world and in Iran
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Mandatory electronic prescription has always been mentioned as the second issue that contributed to the growth of the digital health field. But if we want to take a general look at the digital health field from 2018 to the present day, what are the main problems faced by users on online platforms? Has digital health been able to do as it should and maybe; maintain its position among users? or with the world saying goodbye to the corona virus; Has digital health also taken a downward path?
Advancement in the field of digital health requires a greater effort
Mehrshad Teimouri , co-founder and CEO of the online health platform Boghrat, believes that the field of digital health is still an emerging process, both in the world and in Iran. He emphasizes: “Corona and the implementation of the electronic prescription plan made health platforms achieve their current success.
But we should not factor in the fact that still a significant percentage of the processes in the field of health proceed in a traditional way. Processes such as medical records and… if they go online, they will definitely be easier and more accessible by spending the least amount of time possible. But the indisputable fact is that in Iran, the only steps for the growth of digital health are taken from the side of private platforms. While the serious growth of this field, in addition to the efforts of private platforms; It requires an effort in the national and big phase.”
Internet problems are the main problem of users
In response to the question of what are the main challenges that users face in using online platforms, Teimouri emphasizes: “Many times we have seen many challenges related to the prescription discussion. prescription through systems in different parameters, whether medicine; What paraclinics are registered in the system? But when the patient goes to the pharmacy or paraclinical center, he is faced with the answer: “No prescription has been registered for you.”
In the meantime, the patient calls the doctor, and the doctor is also forced to contact prescription registration platforms such as Boghrat. In the investigations, it is clear that the prescription is registered and visible in the system, and the main problem probably comes back to the screw prescription system inside the treatment center. But in the meantime, both the patient and the doctor have faced challenges, and in the end, a lot of time has been wasted on both sides, and even people who work on online platforms.”
The CEO of Boghrat mentions the challenges of users in online video consultations as one of the main problems of users. Teimouri says: “The patient and the doctor have far less challenges in telephone consultations. But in video consultations, in the communication between the doctor and the patient, the doctor probably needs to see a series of items and cases; But the low quality of the image, the sound quality and even the low speed of the Internet make them unable to establish a proper communication and this causes the dissatisfaction of the patient. This is what makes the patient even sometimes refrain from online consultation and prefer face-to-face consultation to online.
The answer “Internet problems” is not justified in the field of digital health
Teimouri emphasizes in the surveys that they conduct at the end of online consultations with users; The percentage of users’ satisfaction is always low in video consultation regarding the quality of sound and image, which is the main reason for this low percentage, due to the quality of the country’s internet.
In this regard, he continues: “The problems we have regarding the Internet inside the country risk the destruction of all the efforts of the platforms. Internet problems, especially in the field of online health, which is directly related to people’s health and lives; It is not justified in any way. For this reason, there is a risk at any moment that people will stop using online health services due to internet problems and return to the old traditional routine.
The co-founder of Boghrat also mentions physical files as another challenge for users and believes that these days, thanks to online platforms and the possibility of archiving patients’ medical files online in the cloud in a dedicated drive, this challenge is far less important.
