The CEO of Asiatech says that with an investment of 12,931,034 dollar and the creation of 630 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure, 350,000 households in the city of Kermanshah have been covered with fiber optics.
According to Iran digital economy annotation, the Asiatech fiber optic project in Kermanshah was inaugurated on August 4th with the presence of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Kermanshah is the largest provincial center where Asiatech has fully implemented fiber optic coverage. The company’s CEO stated that, according to experts, the fiber network implemented in Kermanshah exceeds the fiber network installed in Oman.
Mohammad Ali Yousefi Zadeh, the CEO of Asiatech, commented on the implementation of this project: “With 630 kilometers of excavation, we have covered the entire city of Kermanshah, surrounding townships, Mehr housing projects, and connecting routes with fiber optics. Kermanshah is the ninth-largest city in the country.”
He mentioned that the city’s multiple sections, considering the presence of an oil refinery, the Ghareh Soo and Abshouran rivers, as well as monorail infrastructure, added complexity to the project. The project commenced in early June last year.
Yousefi Zadeh added: “So far, around 750 billion Tomans have been spent on this project to cover over 350,000 households in Kermanshah with fiber optics.”
In addition to Kermanshah, Asiatech is executing fiber optic projects in the cities of Eslamabad-e Gharb, Gilanegharb, Ravansar, Sarpol-e Zahab, Qasr-e Shirin, Bisotun, and Kangavar in Kermanshah Province, with operations set to start soon in the cities of Harsin, Sahneh, and Javanrud in the same province.
Connection The CEO of Asiatech noted that marketing and sales of the fiber optic service began in any part of Kermanshah city as soon as the project was completed. Currently, around 5,000 subscribers in Kermanshah are using Asiatech’s fiber optic service.
Yousefi Zadeh explained that the cost of connecting to fiber optics for households and businesses is available on the Asiatech website. However, he approximated that each subscriber can obtain a one-year subscription, including a modem and a landline with an initial credit of 100,000 Tomans and free traffic for the Tamashakhoneh home entertainment platform, for about 2.5 million Tomans. This is while the actual cost of installing the connection at the user’s location exceeds 2 million Tomans, and the modem costs around 2.5 million Tomans, meaning subscribers essentially receive the service by only paying for the modem.
He emphasized that all types of modems available in the Iranian market are compatible with Asiatech’s network, and if a subscriber wishes to use a different modem, they can do so by paying the price difference for the modem.
Speed During the inauguration ceremony of Asiatech’s fiber optic project in Kermanshah, a speed test showed speeds of over 900 Mbps. The company’s CEO stated that Asiatech guarantees a speed of over 900 Mbps (wired) for its service, and if this speed is not met, the service will not be provided.
He added: The default modems installed for subscribers are of the WiFi 5 generation, which provide speeds of up to 500 Mbps wirelessly. However, if a subscriber wishes, they can use higher-generation modems, all of which are supported within Asiatech’s network.
Asiatech fiber optic project: provincial branches
The CEO of Asiatech stated that in cities where the fiber optic projects have been launched, the company establishes a main branch alongside the existing representative offices. In Kermanshah, the provincial center branch of Asiatech started operating simultaneously with the project launch.
He said: Each branch has a provincial branch manager and a provincial communications manager, handling three key operations: network maintenance, network support, and marketing and sales.
