According to Iran digital economy annotation, Alborz Fund, which began its activities in 2021, has quickly become one of the largest and most active research and technology funds in the country. This fund, with a capital of nearly 7,500,000 dollors, supports knowledge-based companies through loans, guarantees, and venture capital investments.
According to the performance report of the ‘Alborz Province Research and Technology Fund’ for the year 2023, more than almost 1,500,000 dollors have been allocated to knowledge-based companies active in fields such as electrical engineering, electronics, optical technologies, telecommunications, automated systems, advanced machinery and equipment, as well as advanced materials and chemical products.
According to the report, the largest share of these facilities went to companies active in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and related technologies (29.7%). Additionally, a significant portion of these financial resources was allocated to knowledge-based companies working on advanced machinery and equipment (28.1%).
Furthermore, the Alborz Fund announced that it has issued over 36 million dollors in guarantees to complete 531 projects. These guarantees have supported knowledge-based, technology-oriented companies, and even some major industrial firms like ‘South Pars Gas Complex’, ‘Mobarakeh Steel Company’, and ‘Mina Group’ in completing their projects.
Considering the provided statistics, it can be said that the Alborz Fund has placed a special emphasis on supporting knowledge-based companies. Over 72% of the facilities and 57% of the issued guarantees were allocated to these companies.

In the second half of 2023, more than 767 thousand dollors were allocated to companies active in these sectors.
The Alborz Fund has been awarded the plaque of excellence for being the most efficient fund and the most transparent fund in financial discipline by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.
