Iran’s Postal Revolution: Minister Isa Zarepour’s Tech-Driven Vision for Lightning-Fast Deliveries
According to IDEA, On World Post Day, Eisa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, unveiled platforms designed to enhance postal services by reducing delivery times to as little as half an hour. During an event showcasing the smartening of postal services and infrastructure development, held at the Persian Gulf Intelligent Exchange Center, Zarepour emphasized the significance of transforming the postal industry, which he described as a driving force behind the country’s digital economy.
He stated, “The postal company handles 300 million parcels annually, and it is now advancing towards smartening its processes. Smartening implies the use of all available technologies to make every step of the postal service intelligent. During the Post Exhibition’s opening, I stated that when people deliver a parcel to the post, they should be able to specify the date and time of receipt and receive it promptly.”

Zarepour stressed the necessity of swift adoption of smart technologies across the postal sector, which has witnessed a growing number of smart businesses. He also emphasized the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors and innovative tech companies to bring about this transformation.
Furthermore, the Minister detailed the assessment of the smartening process of the postal industry. “We must employ new technologies in all stages, from acceptance to delivery and distribution, to ensure precision and high speed. This initiative can be accomplished by utilizing the capacities of tech companies,” he explained.
He revealed that projects were underway, allowing people to select delivery time frames for their parcels, with hopes that, in the near future, citizens would have the option to choose delivery time intervals down to the minute.
Zarepour also highlighted the modernization of the postal transportation fleet, with over 80 new trucks, vans, and vehicles added to the national postal network.He underscored the importance of leveraging new technologies to significantly reduce delivery times.
Regarding postal delivery, Zarepour mentioned that postal workers could deliver parcels to recipients twice without additional charges, emphasizing the need for postal companies to enhance their surveillance systems to monitor postal workers’ presence for deliveries and ensure accountability.
