The Minister of Communications and Information Technology announced that the number of optical fiber coverage in the country has reached 6 million households and at least one million will be added to it by the end of the year
According to Iran digital economy annotation, Eisa Zarepour told reporters on the sidelines of the government board meeting: The number of households covered by optical fiber crossed the 6 million mark. The last figure, when Mr. President inaugurated the project in Golestan province, was 5 million. One million has been added in these 45 days.
God willing, at least another million will be added by the end of the year. These 6 million households across the country have been able to access speeds of several hundred megabits per second. If they request, the operator is required to provide the service within a month.
According to the statistics of the official site of this project, Iranfttx, the number of households covered by optical fiber has reached 6 million 15 thousand 13 households. Therefore, 30% of the project of creating 20 million optical fiber covers in the country has been completed. The Ministry of Communications has emphasized that by the end of the year, at least 8 million optical fiber covers will be created.
Zarepour also said: We have at least 10 satellites in the launch line. More than 30 satellites are under construction and will be ready from the middle of next year. Alhamdulillah, our satellite launchers have been stabilized, and God willing, with other launches, this technology will be further stabilized.
He added: We have a 5-year plan to launch satellites in the geo layer. We hope to carry out a research launch by the end of the government with the efforts and synergy of all the actors of the country’s space industry, but it is a time-consuming task. According to the 10-year plan of the space industry, we should reach Geo by 2028.
