Marginal settlement in Chabahar city
marginalization is one of the most important problems in the past 31 years in the city of Chabahar in the south of Sistan and Baluchistan, after the establishment of the free zone and the setting up of large and small production units, its marginal population has increased day by day.
According to statistics, Chabahar with more than 70,000 marginalized people in 14 informal settlements is one of the regions that has the largest number of marginalized people in the country compared to its own population, and even the population of its informal settlements is higher than the population of marginalized people in some provinces. One of the feasible solutions to help improve the problems of marginalized people is their community-oriented empowerment.
The Women and Youth Entrepreneurship Development Foundation has started its activities in the region by forming self-help groups since 2017. Finally, two local organizations named “Khaneh Hoda Komb” in 2019 and “Khaneh Hoda Negur” were formed in 2020. This foundation has always tried to achieve sustainable neighborhood development by empowering women living in these areas.
Self-help groups are a way to achieve local development
The Women and Youth Entrepreneurship Development Foundation has always sought to realize the development of the local community by focusing on the creation of self-help groups and local collective micro-businesses.
The field of economic activity in self-help groups of this foundation is clearly centered around needlework. In the self-help groups, measures such as the formation of savings funds, technical and production trainings, local micro-business training and providing medical support services, education to children and improvement of the neighborhood are carried out.
